1978 Neptune 24 sailboat and trailer. Made by Capital Yachts. One-owner boat. Well maintained, sailed mostly in fresh water and mostly stored indoors. We raised a family of four kids on this boat with week-long vacations. Hence the name, Daddy’s Toy.
She sails well. She points surprisingly high due to her inboard shrouds and a shoal-draft keel with a bilge board.
Two people can launch and rig her in about 2 hours. Provisioned boat and trailer weigh about 5000 pounds. We have towed her with full-size station wagons and now use a ½-ton pickup with a 5.7-liter engine. She has some wear and tear and a few dings, but looks great for her age. Check out the pictures below.
She is presently berthed at Rimrock Lake (about 45 miles west of Yakima, WA) and will be in the San Juan Islands and Victoria, BC approximately July 4 through July 16.
